Working as an artist-curator Michael challenges artists and invites committed collaboration.

In 2022 Michael founded fountain arts CIC to increase arts engagement in North Lincolnshire by using unused spaces for projects, studios and learning.


8 years earlier Michael also opened opened art gallery and studio space 3irty2wo. 

Michael loves creating opportunities for artists in his hometown. 


His DIY approach is inspired by his time working with Leeds based art collective BLACK DOGS between 2007 and 2012.

Bio & Artist Statement:

Michael Burkitt (born 1985) is an artist based in his hometown of Scunthorpe in the North of England. 

 

Michael makes meaningful connections with audiences or individuals with stories, ideas, objects, films and performances. His work welcomes romance, failure, repetition, labour, humour, love and satire.

Recent projects include the exploration oral and alternative histories of civic and social narratives through guided tours, podcasts and short films.

Michael received DYCP funding in Round 23 from Arts Council England to explore TikTok as Art Practice.
